Steps to planning your wedding.

When you decide to get married you have a simple choice, either plan it very carefully or elope and get married in Vegas. If you do decide to plan the wedding, this is a rough, and totally incomplete guide, to getting married.

The first step to planning a wedding would be to choose a date. This needs to be at least nine months in advance or you will run out of time. Before you start booking venues and inviting people, you will need to set yourself a budget, as this will dictate many of your decisions. Be realistic with your budget, and build in a contingency, things will cost more than you expect, and there will be unexpected expenses.

The strange origins of wedding traditions.

There are many strange wedding traditions in the world. The Jews smash a glass at a wedding to commemorate the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, and in some countries people throw shoes at the wedding car as it leaves, as it is supposed to bring good luck. So, where do some of our wedding traditions come from?

Wedding rings originated in Egypt and were only given to the bride as a symbol of ownership by her husband but thanks to some progress, the rings are now exchanged to show that the ownership goes both ways! The Sicilians were responsible for adding the diamond to the wedding ring, as they believed the diamond was forged in a fire of love, but this was really popularised by Archduke Maximilian of Austria when he married Mary of Burgundy in 1477. The father giving away the bride was linked to this idea of ownership, so we have not progressed quite that far. Wedding rings go on the fourth finger because people believed that there was a vein called the vena amoris that ran from the fourth finger directly to the heart.

What happens when a child has absent parents?

David Kavanagh tells Ciara what happens when a child has absent parents.

An absent parent refers to a non-custodial parent who is obligated to pay partial child support and who is physically absent from the child's home. The term also refers to a parent who has abandoned his or her child and failed to maintain contact with the child.

“There would be fewer absent fathers if straight men were turned on only by women with whom they would not mind having children." - Mokokoma Mokhonoana

11 Tips to Reignite the Spark - Relationship Advice.

Relationships are hard, but it is good to remember that nothing is as hard as it looks. So if you want to reignite that spark in your relationship, here are some simple steps that are guaranteed to work.

1. A couple that sweats together, stays together. Couples who exercise together have an increased physical attraction, and it improves your emotional bond. So go running, join a gym, or take up a sport together.

2. Be flirtatious. Being sexually suggestive and affectionate adds excitement to a romance. Remember when you first met. Rekindle that feeling with innuendos and sexy messages. A post- it note on a pillow or a flirty text will do wonders for your love life.

Time for love. Human beings are chemical animals.

Time is an equal and non-redeemable commodity. That is a great sentence but why is that important and what exactly does it mean?

The fact is that we, as human beings, are chemical animals, and there are some chemicals we really like. Some people may like nicotine or alcohol or chocolate, but every single one of us likes something called oxytocin. No, don’t panic, it is not something illegal that you buy on the street corner. Oxytocin is the drug our bodies produce when something very specific happens.

Our bodies produce oxytocin when we are in the company of friends, family or loved ones, and oxytocin makes us feel very, very good. We are happy to sit and watch TV with our friends, doing nothing, saying nothing, just sitting there watching TV. The longer we spend with friends the better we feel. It's one of the reasons we invite friends to our wedding.
