How to use Social Media at Your Wedding

It’s a rare wedding that happens these days without being documented across social media. Photos are uploaded to Facebook and Instagram, friends and guests use Twitter to send messages of congratulations or liveblog the big day.

You could ask your guests not to do so — but let’s not kids ourselves, they’ll probably do it anyway. If you want to keep track of all the posts, the best way to do this is with a handy hashtag.

Rustic chic weddings are not going anywhere… except to the farm!

Rustic weddings have been popular for a while and the trend for country chic is not going away. Where once brides and grooms dreamt of luxurious hotels, these days it is all about hay bales.

Barns are popular venues, as are farm houses. Barns are in fact so much in demand that they outstrip reception halls in terms of popularity. In certain locales, farmers and landowners are cashing in on the trend by re-purposing their barns and giving their property a spit and polish to appeal to the wedding market. Some have found a lucrative revenue source by adding “glamping” facilities so that guests can have the country experience without any of the inconvenience!

Are You Sure? Ten Terrible Reasons to Get Married.

Getting married is a big deal. Think about it — you are choosing a person with whom to spend your life. That’s not a decision that should be taken lightly.

We all know that there are people who do. These people enter into marriage with the idea that if it doesn’t work out they can always get a divorce. This is definitely the wrong mindset to have. Granted, you may not know what spouse will be like in twenty years time, but if you are not getting married “for better or for worse” then why exactly are you?

Think about this carefully: why are you getting married? You’ll probably answer because you are in love.

But why else? If it is one of the following reasons, we strongly recommend getting counselling before heading down the aisle.

2023 Wedding Trends & Spending Habits. Findings, Facts & Figures.

The 2023 American Wedding Study was recently released and there were some very interesting findings.

Because of their financial and personal involvement, couples want a wedding to reflect their personalities. Couples are turning to the media, both traditional and online, to look for inspiration. 72 percent turns to Pinterest and just over a third check out Instagram for ideas.

8 Tips For Dealing With The Post-wedding Blues

It may surprise you to hear, but the post-wedding blues are fairly common. You might think couples would be glad to be finished with the stress of planning their big day and many are, but others find themselves at a bit of a loss after all the frantic decision making, excitement and attention.

Winter Wedding Trends from the recent 2023 Bridal Week

There’s no escaping the fact that summer is over. As a Stark might put it… Winter is coming.

While the warmer months are more popular for tying the knot, winter weddings are catching up.
One particularly significant reason why is that it is possible to hire venues at a reduced rate as long as your wedding is not too close to the holiday season. If you are planning on getting hitched in the colder months, we’ve got you covered — even if your dress doesn’t! Here’s a round up of the trends from the recent 2017 Bridal Week.

The latest wedding trend is… a Donut Wall!

Weddings, like everything else, have trends. Thanks to the iPhone this year is all about rose gold. It’s on frock, favors, and just about everywhere. And somewhat more surprisingly, the donut wall is the latest cool trend.

We’re not sure how we feel about this…

One the one hand, donuts are delicious. And a person sure gets hungry between the ceremony and the meal.

On the other hand, you never know you might do an Ariana Grande and lick them. Plus, depending on where you are, flies and other insects could be a problem. Ditto with children. If there are many kids are your wedding, neither you nor their parents want them hopped up on sugar.

Weird Wedding Gifts

Weird Wedding Gifts received by couples on their Wedding Day

Giving gifts can be a hard task. That’s particularly true for weddings. If a couple has a registry then sure, finding something they like is easy — but only if you can afford it. Unfortunately some couples treat a registry like a lottery and load it with expensive items. At other times, you don’t get round to shopping before all the registry gifts have been bought. Some couples prefer cash — hey, everyone appreciates money! That can be tricky, especially if you are on a budget.

We have all read horror stories of couples writing nasty notes complaining about gifts or the size of the cash donation they received. The truth is, nobody you invite to your wedding has to give you anything but their company. Gifts are customary, sure, but they are not obligatory.

Having said that, some gifts are just plain odd. We’ve rounded by some of the strangest ones received by couples on their wedding day.
